
John started his career in media with Allen, Brady and Marsh in 1976, working on a number of clients including F W Woolworth and Whitbread Beers. Moving to Foote Cone and Belding in 1978 he took responsibility for British Airways, ICI Dulux Paints, Gordon's Gin and the Daily Mail.
After a period as Head of Media Planning, John was appointed Media Director of FCB in 1985. He took on the additional role of Deputy Managing Director in 1989.
John launched Optimedia UK for the Publicis Groupe in February 1992, bringing together four separate media departments and forming a single top ten media specialist company. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer for Optimedia Worldwide in 2001 and Chairman in 2002.
Following the merger of Optimedia and Zenith, John joined the global executive team of the newly formed ZenithOptimedia. He is also a member of the Publicis Groupe Media Board.
As Director of Client Service Worldwide his role is to ensure the highest levels of performance from the ZenithOptimedia network and to foster a close working partnership with all the Agency's clients. He has specific responsibility for leading two major global accounts, Nestlé and L'Oréal.
John is married with two teenage children. Any spare time is devoted to trying to improve his ability as a triathlon competitor.
