Matt Freeman, CEO, Tribal DDB Worldwide
Matt Freeman is the CEO of Tribal DDB Worldwide's global network, where he is responsible for driving the overall vision, strategy and creativity of the most awarded digital agency in the world. In 1998 Matt was tapped by the CEO of Tribal parent company DDB Worldwide, with a lofty mission: unite DDB's digital properties under a new brand identity and build an environment that would inspire a creative revolution and attract the best brands.Matt quickly set out to achieve this goal by creating an agency that has helped build the most powerful and popular brands in the world with clients including Philips, Volkswagen, McDonalds, Johnson & Johnson, Pepsi, Unilever and more. Matt has grown Tribal DDB from an idea to a worldwide network of 43 offices in over 25 countries in just 10 years. In that time, he has been lauded as a true visionary and one of the most influential people in the interactive world, recently being named as one of the Top 50 most creative people in the industry by Creativity Magazine. For 2005, Tribal DDB was also named Interactive Agency of the Year by AdWeek Magazine and the Cannes International Advertising Festival. Under Matt's leadership, Tribal DDB's work has won every major industry award including Cannes Lions, Art Directors Club, New York Festivals, ANDYs, Effies, and 'Best of Show' at the One Show Interactive. Matt himself has served as a judge for the Cannes International Advertising Festival and as interactive chairman of the Clio Awards, the One Show and the International Andy Awards.Matt is the founder and chairman of the IAB's Agency Board, is an active member of the AAAA's Interactive Committee and was recently inducted into the AAF Hall of Achievement. Prior to his life at Tribal, Matt was the Creative Director and Managing Partner of Poppe Tyson/Modem Media, worked for MTV, wrote for several magazines and was a prep school English teacher. He has a B.A. in English and art history from Dartmouth College and attended the School of Visual Arts.
Matt lives in New Jersey with his wife Robin and sons Sawyer, Colby and Wes.
